Topic on June 12, 2026: Torpedo Testing at Pymatuning

Pymatuning State Park is one of the largest state park’s in Pennsylvania with a rich and interesting history. Jared McGary, Environmental Education Specialist, will discuss a unique historical event that helped change naval warfare during World War II - torpedo testing at Pymatuning State Park.

Jared McGary is an Environmental Education Specialist at Pymatuning State Park. He has a long personal history at Pymatuning having camped, fished, and hunted at the park for years before working there. He holds a degree in Parks and Recreation from Slippery Rock University and began his State Park career at Ryerson Station State Park, then moved to Presque Isle and now works at Pymatuning. Sharing park outdoor experiences with his daughter Callie has been a highlight of his career.

This free virtual program is presented via Zoom. Registration is required.
