Summertime on the Farm, Colonial Style

Wednesday, July 29 - Friday, July 31
9am - 12:30pm

The Landis Valley Children’s Educational Programs Summer Camp 2026 offers a three-day immersive experience where children step into the role of colonial farm kids. Participants explore daily life through hands-on activities, traditional games, and creative projects inspired by early American childhood.

Activities Include

  • Building a fence
  • Stuffing a mattress
  • Hauling water
  • Doing laundry
  • Processing flax
  • Sewing and basic textile work

 Traditional Games

  • Duck, Duck, Goose
  • Tug of War
  • Marbles
  • Shut the Box
  • Nine Pin
  • Yarn games and more

Projects & Take-Home Creations

  • Clay marbles
  • Fox & Goose or Checkers game
  • Pin cushion
  • Ante (rag) doll
  • Scherenschnitte (paper cutting)
  • Mini kite
  • And more

These activities are designed to reflect the resourcefulness and creativity of early American children while providing a fun, engaging summer experience.
