We invite you to gather with us on September 11, 2026, at 6 p.m. for Brandywine Battlefield Park’s Annual Remembrance Day Ceremony, commemorating the 249th anniversary of the Battle of Brandywine.
This is a free event.
The Battle of Brandywine, fought on September 11, 1777, was the largest single‑day land engagement of the American Revolution. Nearly thirty thousand soldiers contested a broad landscape that today spans ten square miles or roughly 30,000 acres. The battle concluded in a defeat for General George Washington and the Continental Army, followed by the capture of Philadelphia. Even so, the army’s conduct during the Battle of Brandywine demonstrated its resilience. Washington’s troops withdrew in good order under the setting sun, their spirit intact and their cause sustained.
