EARLY AMERICAN SHAKER TREE OF LIFE HISTORIC THEOREM STENCIL PAINTING BEGINNERS LEVEL
BY PEGGY ALLEN
Discover the rich history and techniques of Theorem Painting, a cherished Early American art form that flourished in Colonial New England during the first half of the 19th century through the mid-1800s.
In this workshop, you will recreate a 9x12 "The Tree of Life," an Early American symbol circa 1854 that embodies the spirit of the Shaker community. Guided by an experienced instructor, Peggy Allen, you will master the art of applying oil paint with brushes to a cotton velveteen fabric board using a series of pre-cut stencils.
No prior experience required.
This stenciling process allows you to create a portrait that has the allure of hand-painted artistry. The workshop is meticulously crafted to guarantee that every participant, irrespective of their skill level, can successfully complete and take home their own Theorem Painting. We will have a practice session before the actual painting.
All supplies will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Conrad Weiser Homestead
Price is $50 for members and $55 for non members.
