Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania

Home for the Holidays

Saturday, December 13, 2025
9-11 am

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania’s annual “Home for the Holidays” event on Saturday, December 13, features takes a nostalgic look at railroad travel during the holiday season throughout the history of railroading in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, particularly during the late-19th and early 20th centuries.

Home for the Holidays features costumed engineers, conductors, ticket agents, and passengers representing the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as seasonal period-appropriate music and festive decorations.

Readings of the popular children’s story, The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsberg will take place in the Museum’s historic Reading Company multiple unit car No. 800 several times that day.

Our youngest visitors can also have telegrams sent to the North Pole via telegraph inside Steinman Station, the Museum’s recreated 1915-era passenger depot.
