A Child's Life during the Civil War

9am - 12:30pm

The Landis Valley Museum Summer Camp for 2023 will offer a chance for participants to step back in time. Through activities and projects, they will see what a child’s life might have been like during the era of the Civil War. They will learn how children helped soldiers through quilting, sewing accessories or simply writing a letter. Authentic recipes will be cooked over a hearth and enjoyed at an old-fashioned picnic with Civil War era toys and games.

This year’s activities include:

• Participate in an authentic schoolhouse lesson.
• Sew a 4 square quilt.
• Play Hoops and Sticks, Townball and much more.
• March in a simulated soldier drill.
• Cook a picnic lunch.

Registration begins Wednesday April 5th.

This camp is designed for both boys and girls ages 5-11.

Date: Tuesday July 18th-Friday July 21st

Times: 9:00 am to 12:30 pm

Cost $150. for Non-members

$135. for Landis Valley Associates Members
