Celebrate George Washington's Birthday
Sunday, February 15, 2026
11am - 2pm
Celebrate George Washington’s 294th birthday with a lively, hands-on afternoon at the park on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
This free, family-friendly event invites visitors to step back into the 18th century with interactive activities and living history demonstrations taking place throughout the park.
Children can try quill pen writing, play with 18th-century toys and games, and join a Continental Army soldiers’ drill, while visitors of all ages enjoy colonial cooking, spinning, blacksmithing, musket firing, and artillery demonstrations. Guests are also encouraged to dress the part by trying on replica 18th-century clothing.
Children who complete a site scavenger hunt can turn in their finished sheet for a special prize. Activities are best suited for ages 4–12, though all ages are welcome to attend. The Visitor Center Museum will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Gift Shop closes at 4:30 PM), and food vendors will be on site with items available for purchase.
At 1:45 PM, everyone is invited to gather in the Visitor Center to sing “Happy Birthday” to General Washington, watch him cut his birthday cake with his sword, and enjoy cupcakes. The cake is generously donated by The Caketeria.
Children 12 and under are encouraged to take part in the park’s “Let’s Draw George” contest by creating a handmade birthday card or artwork featuring George Washington in any medium or style. Entries may be brought to the event, created onsite, or mailed in advance.
