Historic Ephrata Cloister

Antique Car Show

Saturday, September 10
10am -3pm

Do you enjoy looking at antique automobiles, talking to their owners, and imaging life in another era?  Then you won’t want to miss the Pontiac Early Times Chapter Car Show at the Historic Ephrata Cloister on September 10th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Early Times, a chapter of the Pontiac Oakland Club International, is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of all flathead-powered Pontiac automobiles from 1926 to 1954.  In flathead engines, the valves are contained within the engine block instead of the cylinder head as in today’s overhead valve engines.

Ephrata Cloister was purchased by the state of Pennsylvania in 1941, at the height of these cars’ popularity.  It wouldn’t have been unusual to see automobiles like these here at Ephrata during the building restoration period. So, after you visit the car show, why not explore the place where Ephrata began.   Guided tours of the two main buildings will be available throughout the day. Interpreters will also be staffing the Printing Office, The Physician’s House, the Bakery and the Weaver’s House.

Join the Pontiac Early Times chapter as they share their cars dating between 1926 and 1954. The cars will be on display in the upper parking lot at no charge.

Guides will be stationed in the historic buildings throughout the day with admission to the grounds and tours at the regular admission rates.  Adults $10, Seniors $6 Children (3 to 11) $6
