Ephrata Cloister Associates Bus Trip Mansions Along the Delaware Pennsbury Manor and Grundy Mansion

When: Friday, July 12th, 2019

Time: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Cost:   $140/person

Join the Ephrata Cloister Associates as they explore the Mansions on the Delaware on July 12th.

The day will begin at 8:30 am when you board the motor coach from the upper parking lot at Ephrata Cloister.  The first stop will be the Grundy Mansion.  Purchased in 1885 by the Grundy family, they set about turning the existing structure into a fashionable, modern Queen Anne-style house.  They combined modern conveniences and technological innovations of the day with a nostalgic styling that recalled an earlier, less industrial time.  The home’s location along the banks of the scenic Delaware River provided the perfect place for the Grundy men to retreat to after long days directing operations at the Grundy Mill.

From Grundy Mansion we will travel to King George II Inn in Bristol for lunch.  Established in 1681 this establishment has served Kings, Presidents, pirates and politicians over the course of its 300 year history. The afternoon will be spent at Pennsbury Manor the colonial estate of William Penn, founder and proprietor of the Colony of Pennsylvania, who lived there from 1683 to 1701. The Manor House is a reconstruction of William Penn’s home originally built it 1683.  The reconstruction, based upon archeological evidence, written documents, and research of the period, was opened to the public in 1939.  Today, Pennsbury sits on 43 acres of peaceful green space.  The Manor itself is furnished with an outstanding collection of late 17th-century

furniture and objects.  The gardens contain heritage plants, while the stables house the resident farm animals who represent their colonial counterparts.

Cost is $140 per person and include admissions,

lunch and motor coach transportation.
